MLB Unveils 2023 Regular Season Schedule: Key Updates

Familiar Format with a New Twist

Major League Baseball (MLB) has released the schedule for the 2023 regular season, and it features a familiar structure with a few notable changes. The season will once again consist of 162 games per team.

Every Game Counts

Unlike previous seasons where certain games had less impact on standings, MLB has eliminated the use of split-site doubleheaders in 2023. This means that every game played will have full weight in determining team records and playoff implications.

Postseason Updates

The postseason format will remain largely unchanged, with the top two teams in each division advancing to the playoffs. However, the number of series in the wild-card round has been reduced from three to two, giving teams fewer opportunities to secure a postseason berth via the wild card.

Notable Schedule Highlights

* Opening Day: The season kicks off on March 30 with a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field. * London Series: The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs will face off in a two-game series at London Stadium on June 24 and 25. * Mexico City Series: The San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks will travel to Mexico City for a two-game series at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú on April 29 and 30.

Improved Ticket Access

MLB has partnered with Vivid Seats to provide fans with exclusive access to tickets for all regular season games. Fans can purchase tickets directly through the MLB Ballpark app or the official MLB website.
