Betts Leadoff Blast Lifts Dodgers Over Angels 3 1

Ohtani Shares First Pitch Duties With Dog, Then Dodgers’ Betts Goes Yard

Betts’ Leadoff Blast Lifts Dodgers Over Angels 3-1

Ohtani Stakes Leadoff Spot in Pitching, Batting Order

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 3-1 on Tuesday night in a game that featured a unique first pitch and a leadoff home run from Mookie Betts.

Prior to the game, Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani shared first-pitch duties with his dog, a golden retriever named Griffey. The adorable moment delighted the crowd at Angel Stadium.

Ohtani then took the mound as the Angels' starting pitcher and also batted leadoff. He went 0-for-3 at the plate but pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits.

Betts, the Dodgers' leadoff hitter and reigning NL MVP, wasted no time in putting his team on the board. He crushed a 3-2 curveball from Ohtani over the center-field wall for a solo home run.

The Dodgers added two more runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from Will Smith and an RBI single from Justin Turner.

The Angels managed just one run off Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin, who pitched six innings, allowing one run on five hits.

The Dodgers' bullpen held the Angels scoreless over the final three innings to secure the victory.

With the win, the Dodgers improved to 10-7 on the season, while the Angels fell to 7-10.
