Chilean Agricultural Sector Strengthens Ties with the International Flower Trade
Partnership Aims to Promote Sustainable Practices and Facilitate Trade Opportunities
Santiago, Chile - On the occasion of Chilean Agriculture Minister Esteban Valenzuela's visit to the Netherlands, the Flower and Foliage Importers and Wholesalers Association (FIFI) and the National Society of Agriculture of Chile (SOFOFA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a strategic partnership.
This partnership aims to strengthen the ties between the Chilean agricultural sector and the international flower trade, with a focus on promoting sustainable practices and facilitating trade opportunities.
Key Objectives of the Partnership:
- Promote sustainable practices in the Chilean flower and foliage industry, including environmental conservation, responsible water use, and fair labor conditions.
- Facilitate trade opportunities for Chilean flower and foliage exporters by connecting them with global markets.
- Enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing between the Chilean agricultural sector and the international flower trade community.
- Support the growth and development of the Chilean flower and foliage industry through capacity building and technical assistance.
"This partnership is a significant step forward in strengthening the Chilean agricultural sector and fostering closer ties with the international flower trade," said Minister Valenzuela.
"We are committed to working with FIFI and SOFOFA to promote sustainable practices, facilitate trade opportunities, and support the growth and development of our flower and foliage industry," he added.

The signing of the MOU took place during Minister Valenzuela's visit to the Netherlands, where he met with Dutch agricultural representatives and visited key flower and foliage businesses.
